Music Not Muzak

by Alison

When I first worked for Dr. Urban we listened to the regular radio – classical mostly. Then we got a CD player in the 90’s, but it wasn’t easy finding an entire CD that was dental office appropriate. I remember this one CD by James Taylor that was just mellow and great except for an eff bomb that was on one song. I’d have to go diving for the skip song button every time it came on.

Now we have Pandora, and I love it. We have 100 stations set, and as you can see I do tend to like oldies, but we have some new stuff too like Lake Street Dive, who I heard on NPR this morning. To go from The Vitamin String Quartet’s calm, peaceful, classical version of the AC/DC heavy-metal, hard rock song “You Shook Me All Night Long”, then to a little Poi Dog Pondering, then a bit of Elvis Presley, followed by Elvis Costello makes me smile. At this moment the opera classic "Carmen" is playing. I just adore this kind of variety. I pasted all of our current stations here.
